2007 FISHER OF MEN
HUMANITARIAN AWARD RECIPIENT
Suzanne Boylston Cusack
VERITAS VILLA, INC.
Suzanne Cusack, NCACII, CASAC and her husband Jim, are the Co-founders and directors of Veritas Villa, Inc. Sue, a highly successful business woman, combined her strong administrative background with her own personal qualities and knowledge of alcohol and substance abuse treatment to help launch and run the Villa. Her contribution to the Villa, and in particular, to the women who cross her path, can never be underestimated. Her concern for these often neglected individuals runs very strong. Sue has instituted and developed a women’s rehabilitation program and produced invaluable information necessary in the education of anyone directly involved in the often times frustrating, but rewarding field of alcohol and substance abuse rehabilitation.
Sue left a successful career in advertising to pursue her goal of working in the treatment field. She is a National Certified Addiction Counselor and a sought after lecturer. She has addressed such groups as South Oaks Hospital, the training Course at Westchester Council on Alcoholism, the AFL-CIO Labor Management Counseling Training Course and the Association of Halfway Houses Annual Conferences. Her lectures often deal with her special area of interest, women and treatment and the additional stigma they encounter recovering from alcoholism. She recently updated the 2nd edition of her Hazelden pamphlet, “Women in Relapse” and is the author of “Fourth Step Inventory of Women”.
Sue is the founding member and past president of the New York Women’s Coalition’s Education and Training Board as well as the board of the Legal Action Center in New York City.
Both Sue and her partner Jim feel blessed to be able to do what they love together and have no plans for retirement.
LICADD is privileged to present this award to Suzanne Boylston Cusack in honor of her many contributions to the field of alcoholism and drug addiction.

My name is Matt Ryan and I would like to welcome you to our website. I am 25 years sober and have worked at Veritas Villa for 16 years. I am a counselor on the men’s clinical team. I presently work with the uniformed officers and union members that served at Ground Zero. I believe that unresolved trauma will ultimately prevent some people from getting sober therefore it needs to be addressed in a safe supportive environment in early recovery. I look forward to seeing you when you come to the Villa! |
